Applicants for standard DTP places should put 'Interdisciplinary Bioscience DTP' in the box marked 'proposed field of study and title of research project'. Applicants for iCASE studentships should put the name of the project and the lead supervisor. Applicants who are interested in working with a DTP partner organisation (e.g. The Pirbright Institute, Diamond Light Source, ISIS Neutron and Muon Source) should provide the names of any partner organisations they are interested in working with here.
-
Please note that applicants for UKRI-BBSRC iCASE studentships, partner studentships or other specific studentships offered in association with the DTP should contact the academic supervisor, or the main contact listed in the project details for the specific project they wish to be considered for, to determine whether they are encouraged to apply before submitting an application.
-
All candidates must apply also for membership of a College. We encourage applicants to consider applying to Linacre College, University College, St. Cross College and Reuben College, with whom the programme is closely associated. However, students may seek membership of any college which admits applicants to the course.
-
Details of how to apply to the DTP via Oxford Brookes University are available here. You can apply for admission to the DTP both through the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University, but to do so you will need to submit two applications, one for each institution.
-
All students have two (and sometimes more) supervisors in their DPhil/PhD supervisory team, which for students in the main DTP programme is finalised after they have undertaken DTP training modules and rotations. Students who apply via Oxford Brookes University will be registered for a PhD at Oxford Brookes University and will need to have a supervisor at Oxford Brookes University within their supervisory team. Students who apply via the University of Oxford will be registered for a DPhil at the University of Oxford and will need to have a supervisor from the University of Oxford within their supervisory team. All students within the DTP participate in the same training programme and can have additional supervisors from any of the organisations within the DTP within their supervisory team. Students can be primarily based with any of the ten organisations within the DTP, irrespective of the University at which they are registered. Collaborative supervision between organisations and departments within the DTP is encouraged.
-
Applications will be assessed by the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University once they have been submitted. All interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held online. We welcome applications from diverse candidates, and disabled and neurodivergent applicants who are shortlisted for interview are encouraged to request reasonable adjustments as needed.
-
